The main reason why I love my Pistons is that when I was growing up, me and my Grandpa would watch every game on TV together. Not only did we enjoy the game, but it was a chance to just sit down and talk together about life.

On my birthday every year he would take me to a game, and we would watch our favorite player, Joe D. My Grandpa taught me that Joe D. was everything good about the game, he not only had god-given talent, but he always respected his opponent. After Joe D. had hung up the sneakers, it was Big Ben. We went for 10 straight years, until he passed away last summer. I am glad my Grandpa wasn't around to see what has become of his Pistons.

Although they may be defending champions, they have not played with the same hard-working blue collar mentality their city has been accustomed to. I would not even want to think about what he would say about the Pistons fighting this year. While it may be one of the better teams we have had, this is not the team me and my Grandfather would watch together every night. I still do watch every night though, and I know somehow he is with me, in that same chair, watching his Pistons leave it all out on the floor every night.
